Helping Communities Navigate the Legal System through Trained Community Volunteers

PubNavPosterLawDay2This training has been developed for organizations and or individuals who wish to help people who are dealing with legal conflict. 

The purpose is to train community volunteers – no background knowledge of the law is required.  A person who receives this training is known as a public navigator and acts as a personal guide to legal information help for those in need. 

Training is available to individuals wishing to help people with the:

  1. Small Claims Court process (Small Claims Court Navigators)
  2. Wills Preparation process (Willls Navigators)

The training includes:

  • Information on recruiting community volunteers
  • Training materials for navigators
  • Communications materials including posters for navigator clinics and media outreach
  • Logistical information to set-up the navigator service including meeting arrangements
