The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce a partnership with the  Artists’ Legal Information Society. Artists in Nova Scotia will continue to receive the legal  information and support they need through LISNS, effective this week.

LISNS will now host NSALIS’ publications; A Legal Guide for Writers, A Legal Guide for  Musicians and A Guide to Representing Yourself in Court. LISNS will integrate NSALIS’  database of lawyers to ensure artists have access to specialized support for their legal needs.

NSALIS’ president Martin Glogier joins the LISNS team to continue his passion in supporting  artists’ legal needs. Glogier has been with NSALIS since 2014 and is committed to improving  the prospects of Nova Scotia’s arts industry.

“I’m confident that legal programming for artists will take a step forward under LISNS’  leadership,” said Glogier. “The future for Nova Scotia’s artistic community is bright and I’m  thrilled that LISNS will now be a part of that future.” Glogier believes the information-sharing  role both organizations take is a critical component to a healthy and vibrant arts community.

LISNS’ executive director Heather de Berdt Romilly is proud of their affirmation on the  importance of a strong and empowered art sector. “We recognize the value of art and the critical  role it can play in providing trauma-informed support for legal conflict prevention and healing  help.”

In recognition of the important role of art to provide healing help for legal conflict, LISNS  recently launched an art therapy service to support Nova Scotians who have experienced  workplace sexual harassment. The service runs twice a month with certified art therapist Evie  Dunville and is available on their Safe at Work app. LISNS also collaborated with Eskasoni’s  Break the Silence: Be the Change youth project to provide a Mi’kmaq colouring book on the  seven sacred teachings. This colouring book is available to anyone seeking healing support.

LISNS welcomes all artists to visit www.legalinfo.org to learn more about legal help available and looks forward to strengthening relationships in support of the arts community.

The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia is a charitable organization in Halifax and has  been the public’s trusted source for legal information since 1982.
