The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) is pleased to announce that in partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia, LISNS will be leading the development of an online family law guided pathway. Over the next 18 months, LISNS will develop a free, interactive and innovative online information guide that will provide tailored help to Nova Scotians on court forms used in family law applications.

The web-based pathway will guide Nova Scotians to the court forms required for their family law matter. The pathway will give step-by-step instructions and legal information to fill out the forms properly. The completed forms can then be printed. LISNS’ innovative approach will help Nova Scotians who are representing themselves in a family law matter.

The Family Law Guided Pathway is expected to launch in fall 2023. The pathway will undergo focus group testing throughout development and will be written in plain language. The pathway will be available in French within two years of its launch.

LISNS’ would like to thank the Province of Nova Scotia and the Department of Justice for their partnership on this project. LISNS is looking forward to working alongside national and international family law experts who’ve shared best practices and interest for the development of this pathway. Keep an eye on LISNS’ social media channels for more updates pertaining to the pathway development.
