The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia has partnered with the Halifax Chamber of Commerce to launch free employer resources focused on pdf prevention, education and healing support for workplace sexual harassment(419 KB) . The resources: bystander training, employer best practices toolkit and Safe at Work, an EAP app are cost-effective ways for employers to enhance the quality of their workplaces and support their employees.

“We all have a role to play in creating safe, respectful workplaces and enhancing prevention,” said Heather de Berdt Romilly, executive director at LISNS. “We are filling a gap with these valuable resources; helping employers with effective tools to prevent and manage sexual harassment and giving prevention and healing support to employees.”

Sexual harassment is an occupational health and safety issue which employers have a responsibility to manage. LISNS is helping employers meet this obligation with innovative and easy-to-use resources.

The online bystander training helps employees understand what sexual harassment is, why it’s harmful and how to prevent it at work. The toolkit is a step-by-step guide including policy and report templates that assists employers with managing workplace sexual harassment. The Safe at Work app is an EAP tool for those looking for healing support and resources. Safe at Work is produced in partnership with technology provider SimplyCast to provide safe access to healing help.
