Navigating the criminal justice system is a daunting task for any Nova Scotian, but for those facing language barriers or complex systems like immigration law, it can feel impossible. The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia , in partnership with Halifax Regional Municipality and thanks to the Public Safety Canada - Building Safer Communities fund, is closing that gap with the launch of an essential, plain language digital library of resources about the criminal justice system.

This digital library includes plain language, printable, and video resources in 9 different languages:

• Chinese (Simplified)/简体中文
• English
• French/Français
• Hindi/हिन्दी
• Persian/فارسی
• Somali/Af-Soomaali 
• Spanish/Español
• Ukrainian/УКРАЇНСЬКА МОВА 

We invite members of the public to attend the launch, along with Mayor Andy Fillmore and other Municipal councilors on July 21st at HRM City Hall at 1:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served. 

We all need to plan for the unexpected in case we become unable to act. Planning ahead is the best way to prepare.
